Hello & Happy Halloween!
If you don’t know me, my name is Alex Kitching. You can find me under “reindeer age” on most social media platforms. I’m an experimental artist based out of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. I have a BFA in Illustration from the Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design in Lakewood, Colorado.
For me, art has always been a form of relief from my struggles with mental health. When I was young I was diagnosed with general anxiety and clinical depression. Later on I found out that I also had ADHD. I plan on discussing all of that further in a future blog post. The struggle is sometimes harder than others; but one thing I’ve learned is that almost everyone deals with problems just like I do.
I’ve lived in Old Town Alexandria for about two and a half months now, and I’ve been wanting to root into the art scene here. That’s more what I wanted to talk about today.
I’m excited to announce here that I was recently accepted to take part in an art show here in Alexandria called Art on Tap. It’s an awesome, local event that pairs artwork with local beers and appetizers. I was especially excited to find out that my painting Skelebro would be paired with Lost Boy Cider’s Comeback Kid and an appetizer from a local restaurant called Whiskey & Oyster. The event will be held this Friday, November 1st at 7pm. You’ll find me and my boyfriend, Nik, enjoying ourselves there at the Torpedo Factory in Old Town, Alexandria!
If you’re interested in attending, tickets are still available. You get your own lil tasting glass and you’ll get to try all sorts of great things!
I’d quickly like to thank anyone who has been following me since I first started my blog last year and being patient with me as I work to create a new one. I plan on blogging more often now!
I’d also like to thank my boyfriend, Nik, for helping me with literally everything and getting me back on my website! You’ve helped me get further than I ever would on my own.
